Great Thoughts on Worship

Here are some great quotes from Bob Kauflin’s book “Worship Matters”.
A Faithful Worship Leader:
“A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully comibining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory”
~ Bob Kauflin and Jeff Purswell
“All of our offerings are humbled by the work of Christ because they would be unacceptable to God without him. All of our offerings are exalted because when they are joined to the atoning sacrifice of the Savior, God accepts them as though his own Son were offering them.”
~ Bob Kauflin

“Whatever standards others might use to judge our ministry, God is concerned that we be faithful. Faithfulness means firmly adhering to the observance of a duty, keeping your word, fulfilling your obligations. It involves being loyal, constant, and reliable.”
~ Bob Kauflin
“(Our) job is to make sure (we) provide the opportunity for them to be affected by the right things. And that means being faithful to draw people’s attention to the God we’re there to worship.”

I hope you all had the chance to make it out last night to our first prayer meeting. It was a powerful time in the Lord! First, I wanted to thank the new worship team addition to our department for the phenomenal job they did last night! Tim, Alan, Colby, Tim, and Trent are anointed and I am tremendously excited about what they bring to the family here at Eagle’s Nest. Please keep them in your prayers!
Secondly, we need to expand our tech department to cover the tech needs for our growing ministry. If there are any of you, since you are already artistically inclined, that would be interested in learning sound, lights, or projection to be a part of any of the services that you don’t currently serve on a team for – PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
I love you guys greatly and am so excited about what the Lord is doing in our midst!
Blessings,
Pastor Scott
The Beginning and End of Worship

Here’s a great quote from the book “Worship Matters” by Bob Kauflin that I’m reading.
“Magnifying God’s greatness begins with the proclamation of objective, biblical truths about God, but it ends with the expression of deep holy affections towards God. We aren’t simply reciting facts about God, like students reviewing their multiplication tables. God wants us to delight in him (Psalm 37:4). He is exalted when all our energies are directed to one end – being satisfied in who he is. “The engagement of the heart in worship is the coming alive of the feelings and emotions and affections of the heart,” John Piper writes. “Where feelings for God are dead, worship is dead.”
